Deleting Auction Items

Occasionally, an auction item must be deleted. Deleting an auction item does not delete its associated donation. If a donation is removed from inventory and it has already been bundled into an auction item, the auction administrator must first delete the auction item and then delete the donation entry separately. Alternately, the auction administrator can edit the auction item to remove part of the items. See Deleting Donations.

Auction items that have been sold can not be deleted until the item is marked as not sold. Do this by either deleting the bid on an item or if you are using the online bidding option, change the item status to not sold from the Online Catalog Tools page.

There are two ways to delete auction items; individually and in bulk.

To delete an individual auction item
  1. Click the Auction Items & Catalog > Edit / Sort / Delete Auction Items menu item.
  2. Locate auction item to be deleted.
  3. Click the trash can icon next to the auction item.
To delete multiple auction items
  1. Click the Auction Items & Catalog ⪚ Edit / Sort / Delete Auction Items menu item.
  2. Scroll to the bottom right corner of the page.
  3. Enter the auction items to be deleted, either individual auction items separated by commas such as 1,3,6 or ranges of items denoted with a hyphen such as 1-5
  4. Confirm that you are deleting the correct items and then click the Delete items button. You should see a confirmation message that the items were deleted.
  5. Items that are sold must be marked as not sold before they can be deleted. Silent Auction Pro will skip those items even if they are within the range of items specified to be deleted. This also makes it easy to delete excess items such as Fund-A-Need items or raffle tickets that were created but were not sold. Deleting those items will also make the percent return calculations more accurate.

The auction item has now been removed from the system. Follow the steps for Creating an Auction Item Bundle to bundle donations into a new auction item. If the new auction item requires a bid sheet, follow the instructions for printing a bid sheet and SOLD sheet for the new item.
