Deleting Bids

We all make mistakes and sometimes bids need to be deleted. Here's how:

To delete a bid via the Enter / Edit Auction Results page
  1. From the Check In & Check Out menu, choose the Enter / Edit Auction Results & Cash Pledgesoption.
  2. Click the Enter / edit / delete bid results button.
  3. In the Auction Item number box, type the auction item ID number for the bid that is to be deleted. (Do not enter the A.)
  4. Hit <TAB> or use your mouse to click on the Bidder Number box. The current bidder number will automatically appear.
  5. Click the Delete Bid button to remove the bid from the database. If a previous bid had been entered for this item, you will see the following message: "A previous bid has been entered on this item, click OK to revert to that bid or Cancel to just delete the bid." To revert to the previous bid, click OK. To delete that bid and leave the item with no bid, click Cancel. Clicking Cancel does not delete any previous bids listed on the bid history table, if bids were indeed made. It does, however, leave the item with no current bid.

If you have purchased Mobile Plus™ or Mobile Pro™ and are offering online bidding, you may also delete a bid through the Online Catalog Tools page.

To delete a bid via the Online Catalog Tools page
  1. From the Auction Items & Catalog menu, choose the Online Catalog Tools option.
  2. In the Online Bidding Statistics section, scroll (or search using <Ctrl+F>) to locate the auction item.
  3. In the Bids column, click the link that indicates the number of bids to open that item's bid history page.
  4. Click the red icon to delete the highest bid and revert to the second highest bid.
Deleting the bid does not issue a refund to that bidder if they have already checked out. If you need to issue a refund on an item or cash donation, see the Managing Payments and Issuing Refunds help topic.
