The artist has experimented with different firing techniques. She had an outdoor pit fire kiln for many years as well as the standard electric kiln. This particular piece is fired in a salt kiln. It is not glazed, just covered with a Terra Sigillate (a very fine clay slip), polished and salt fired which gives it the yellow color. There are a couple highlights of blue that is also caused by the salt.
