Authorizing Online Bidders

To allow persons to bid online for the first time, the auction (or group) administrator must provide authorization in advance of or during an event. Once a bidder has been authorized, he can bid online in all future events without subsequent authorization as long as he has a credit card on file.

As a reminder, the contact database is separate from the group members database. Therefore, when a contact signs up and is approved for online bidding, the contact becomes a member of your group at the lowest membership level. Online bidders are granted access to your group only for the purpose of online bidding; they do not have access to your contact database, donations, or any other features available to higher level members.

When any other member of your group signs up for online bidding, that individual's membership level is unaffected.

To grant pending requests for online bidding

  1. Click the Group Admin Tools menu item and choose the Managed Group Membership menu option.
  2. View the pending requests and click the Grant button next to each request.

If an administrator later wishes to deny online bidding to a group member, the member's affiliation with the group is terminated. See Managing Group Members help topic.
