Create 1 Donation : 1 Auction Item Interleave Option

When using the Create auction items from single donations (1 Donation : 1 Auction item) auction creation path (See Which Auction Path Do I Need QRC for more info), the Silent Auction Pro™ software, by default, attempts to assign numbers in an uninterrupted sequence. If there are more donations than available sequential numbers, the software displays a message advising you to either allow interleaving of auction item numbers or select a different starting number.

Numbering auction items in an uninterrupted block is important when items require specific section or table assignments. Perhaps you have a painting and you need a spot where the table is against the wall, or an item requires access to an electrical outlet. You can assign specific ID numbers to these items using either the Auto-create or Bundling methods. For items that can be placed anywhere, you can have the auto-create automatically assign ID numbers from the next available slot by selecting the Allow Interleaving of Auction Items checkbox.

Suppose you previously created auction items A1, A4, and A6. You now have four individual donations to convert to auction items and want Silent Auction Pro to automatically assign the next available numbers starting with A2. Check the Allow Interleaving of Auction Items checkbox and select 1 for the Starting Auction Item Number. Silent Auction Pro will automatically assign these four new items as A2, A3, A5 and A7.

If you want the four donations assigned to adjacent numbers, you would need to set the Starting Auction Item Number to A7 or higher. Setting at A1 with the Allow Interleaving of Auction Items checkbox unchecked would cause the system to issue a warning saying that there are auction items already defined in the system, preventing it from creating a contiguous block of auction item numbers.
