"Growing up between the suburbs of Dallas Texas and an isolated farm in Stone County Arkansas created a split view of the world. Farm life probably influenced me the most. Raising livestock and gardening gave a love of animals and plants. A degree in agricultural education was far from the Art world, but a vacation to Eureka Springs in 1979 changed my life. Meeting Gary Eagan and working in his studio for a weekend was a real epiphany. I was able to throw on a wheel the first try and loved the feeling of clay. Every day in the studio is one I look forward to. Transforming a lump of clay into a whimsical or utilitarian piece is always fulfilling.
Travel to many parts of China and Europe has influenced my style of production. I try to get a smile from people when then see my work. I also enjoy knowing that my utilitarian pieces are treasured and used by folks for their daily cup of coffee or that winter bowl of soup. I still work in the Studio located under the London Aire Shop on Spring Street. It is now one of the oldest constantly running studio potteries in Arkansas. "
About The Pottery- All my pottery is made of porcelain. It is dishwasher safe and microwavable. If the piece has gold gilding, it should never be used in the microwave.
