Description:
This vessel titled "Turquoise Crackle" by Terry Russell has been raku fired using a turquoise crackle glaze - this is a low-fire piece and measures 10" high x 6" across the widest point and the opening is 3" across. As a Raku vessel this has been low-fired and is a decorative piece it is not meant to hold water.
Terry was teaching in Coffeyville, Kansas, when he heard about an opening in the Eureka Springs schools. Terry Russell is probably best known for his functional pieces, "but I do some sculptural work that's completely nonfunctional. I really like both. I think it's important to do functional work; that's where the skill comes in. But the sculptural work is where my heart is".
