Auction Staff
To effectively run a silent and live auction you need to staff the following positions:
- Auction Assistants
-
Auction assistants staff the check-in and check-out area and are responsible for the computer work
on the day of the auction. Those performing this role must be designated as auction assistants within the Silent Auction Pro software by the group administrator.
- Auction Cashiers
-
Auction cashiers are auction assistants with the added responsibility of collecting admission from attendees and payments from winning bidders. If your group has set up and configured a merchant account through Silent Auction Pro, auction assistants can process credit card payments directly through the Silent Auction Pro software. Consider whether you want all of your auction assistants handling payments, or whether only certain auction assistants will act as cashiers.
There is no auction cashier role within the Silent Auction Pro software. This is just a designation assigned to an auction assistant (or higher level member) that handles cash and credit card payments at the event. All members or computers logged in with an auction assistant membership level or higher have access to the credit card processing functionality.
- Table Monitors
-
Table monitors are responsible for monitoring the silent auction tables while bidding is open. Table monitors should immediately pick up bid sheets at the close of a section, and if or when a bidder has exercised the Buy It Now option. Table monitors deliver the bid sheets to the check-in/check-out area for processing.
- Spotters
-
Spotters assist the auctioneer by monitoring the bidding during a live auction and recording winning bids and bidder numbers.
