Flow painting, or acrylic pouring, is an abstract art form of organic, fluid designs. The designs are created by pouring thin, acrylic paints in various colors and patterns on a canvas. By tilting or spinning the canvas and possibly blowing air on the paint will have the paint move in various directions. This flow painting technique originated in the 1930's in Mexico when Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros experimented with pouring fluid acrylic paints on to surfaces to see how the paints interacted.
